You donâ€t install games to the V1 cubes as such. They run on the host computer; assets do get downloaded, however, so this might be what is failing. Check the charge is full on the cubes. Eventually the internal battery will fail requiring surgery - scary! - but making sure they are charged might help. Checking firmware and reattaching the cubes to the host might also fix things

Hi, thanks for a great resource for these cubes. I've picked up a set of V1 cubes (tray) and I've been trying to install games on them to no avail. Any time I click the "Install onto Cubes" button it starts the process but never finishes successfully. :(

I've tried clearing the cubes, updating the link firmware (it's at 1.1.15 now, cubes all at 1.1.14) and even checked the "My cubes" page, nothing is installed yet any install attempt dies after around 25% progress. The cubes show progress: yellow highlight on the middle cube, before aborting.

Does anybody have any ideas?

I just came across this article when searching up one of my favorite childhood memories that I got back in Christmas of 2012. I had so much fun with Sifteo Cubes back then, and back then, I only had a limited selection of games to work with because we couldn't install any more.

I love how you brought this back to life. Thank you so much in partaking in this amazing resurrection of a childhood toy! :D

Quick question: in this article, it mentions I can play the games without the physical hardware. However, I can't seem to find a way to install and play the V2 games, since I want to play Sandwich Kingdom, for example. Joyscubes had a shipping date 5 years ago for some reason and make me not want to risk wasting my money on buying something that has very few updates.

How can I install and play the .elf files on my computer? I don't think they work on SiftRunner, do they?

Mark Ding (behind the Kickstarter and IndiGoGo campaigns) might be able to help with Joyscube purchases, as their web site is down right now; I suspect it didnâ€t sell well enough :-( and “third times the charm” didnâ€t work out. Hi Alex,
Joyscube sell a modern reimplementation of Sifteo cubes, and they are (sort of) compatible, having essentially the same firmware, but adding BlueTooth functionality. However, they are subtly different in appearance. The only other option is to set an email alert search on eBay, which is where I got most of mine, including a few broken ones for spares and to disassemble. Hope that helps!

Thanks for getting back to me! Yes, some of our cubes are starting to show signs of battery fatigue (they deplete very quickly after charging), so will look forward to seeing your efforts when you eventually do that. Cheers, Kai.
